Located in the Mid North of South Australia, if you haven’t been to Mambray Creek you should definitely have it on your list!
Only a 3 hour drive North from Adelaide makes Mambray Creek a great spot both for a weekend getaway as well as a perfect stopover when heading further North to the Flinders or Far North regions or across to Eyre Peninsula.
Situated in the Mount Remarkable National Park, Mambray Creek offers a truly beautiful camp ground with great facilities including flushing toilets and even hot showers! Yes that’s correct a shower!
The camp ground is reasonably well spaced, and offers a range of different sites suitable for tents, camper trailers and caravans. All sites are pretty flat and some of the top picks sit right on the bank of the Creek.
There are plenty of sites too, so if you’re travelling with mates or family you’ll be sorted!
A setup that is self sufficient for power and water is recommended although there is some water available through the camp ground. Generators are not permitted, which we love as it helps keep the peace!
The Creek bed is a typically beautiful South Aussie outback ranges creek bed. With large gums and plenty of boulders giving plenty of opportunity for exploration for the grommets as well as a magical backdrop to the camp.
Campfires are permitted out of fire ban season, but you do need to bring your own wood.
Mambray Creek offers a great base for exploring the region with some great walking trails leading from the site itself as well as further into the Mount Remarkable National Park.
You are almost guaranteed to come across some wildlife with plenty of emus, roos and kookaburras calling this place home!
Being a popular spot for camping and being in the National Park, you will have to pre-book and pay for your site. It will be best to plan ahead for School Holidays and Long Weekends.
